Motivational Monday: Staying Motivated Through Tough Times

Sometimes, we as human beings find ourselves feeling emotionally overwhelmed, anxious, and exhausted. This can be difficult when there are things we still must do. On days when all we feel like doing is resting, but there are things piled up on your to do list, try these few things to help keep yourself motivated.

Take a social media break! Social media is an amazing facet of our technologically savvy lives living in the 21st Century. Despite this, posts can still cause anxiety for some people depending on the topic. For many, the news is a great source of information for the public, but to some, maybe even yourself, it can be nerve wrecking, heartbreaking, and draining. Take a break from social media if you can to save energy for yourself, it might be helpful in the long run.

Learn that less is more. So many of us struggle to find acceptance in material things when the real acceptance should come from close friends and family. Having top of the line accessories and technologies can be fun for a short period of time, but it has 'nothing to do with the price of beans' so to speak. Use the time instead to find out more about yourself and spend time with your loved ones.

Breathe each and every day. Don't let yourself become focused too much on one thing and forget about the things that matter most. Taking time to literally enjoy your cup of morning coffee or tea can actually boost your mood for the remainder of the day. If you feel yourself getting overwhelmed, take deep breaths or practice breathing exercises. You can even try a grounding technique that focuses on your five senses.

The first step to getting rest, is to get into a restful mindset. Meditation can help with this. Meditation focuses on seven main chakras that key into specific parts of the body and mind. For example, if you struggle with anxiety, you can focus on the solar plexus which is at the center of your body. This chakra connects to your adrenal and digestive tract which can be where many people feel their anxiety.

If you are feeling overloaded, drained, and stressed out, try using these few techniques to help yourself stay rested and motivated. If you have any questions, please reach out to New Leaf through email at or call us at 331-725-1190.
