Though seeing a counselor in person is preferred by many, given the state of our country this is not feasible for the next few weeks, possibly months. Telehealth is a great way to substitute going to an office to seek counseling.
Many people have concerns about different things regarding the use of online healthcare. Privacy online and in the home is one of the biggest worries people have. With regulations put in, HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) compliant software is used to ensure the privacy of clients. As counselors, we are doing everything we can to make this transition from in person to online therapy as worry free as possible.
Many insurance companies are also covering telehealth for most insurance plans. If you are unsure if your insurance covers telehealth, you can call the Member Services number on the back of your insurance card to ask. Most plans are covered until the end of the stay at home order, though not all copays are covered.
With many people working from home, scheduling and commuting issues have lessened as well. Access to therapy for college students is much easier given online courses. In between classes or after homework, all it takes to get connected to a counselor is the push of a button.
Telehealth sessions can be done from the comfort of your own home making it increasingly easier for connections to be made over the internet. Sometimes all you need is your pet by your side or your favorite place in the house.
New Leaf is taking clients of most insurances during this uncertain time. If you would like more information on teletherapy, please reach out to us through email at email@example.com or call us at (331)-725-1190.
