Thoughtful Tuesday: Self Care
Many of us are starting to feel restless with the current state of our world. As a population, we are eating more, drinking more, and doing a whole lot of waiting. During this time, I challenge you to take care of yourself. Do something that makes you feel good.
Take time to realize how you are feeling and what you would like to accomplish while being at home. Perhaps you could try starting a new project or taking up a new hobby. Everyday during this quarantine you could be trying something new, or taking time to take care of yourself. Personally, I have found that tending a garden, even a small one, is calming and something to look forward to everyday.
If you'd like to find some peace within yourself, you must take care of yourself first. Take five minutes everyday to be with yourself and no other distractions. Go for a long walk to clear you mind, or stay at home and stretch your limbs. Find a quiet place to be creative or curious.
On days when you are stressed, make sure you are taking time to decompress during the day and especially when the day is over. Practice breathing exercises to calm down if you find yourself feeling overwhelmed or worried.
During this quarantine, I challenge you to do some self care. Exercise and nutrition are wonderful ways to take care of your physical state, but do not forget that your mind needs to be taken care of, too. Whether it be a bubble bath, doing something creative, or exploring a nature preserve, take time for just you.
