Therapy Thursday: Extroverts and Introverts

April 2, 2020

Many people know the difference between extroverts and introverts is how these people spend their time. Extroverts tend to want to be near people and introverts are content with spending time alone or with few people. What a lot of people don't realize is how differently the two types of people are handling the stay at home order.

Introverts in regular, everyday life can have a hard time going out to parties, attending events, or simply going to work depending on their job. These types of people don't need the extra energy that is given off by other people because they can fulfill this need themselves.

Extroverts could be struggling in this uncertain time right now because we are forced to socially isolate ourselves on account of protecting ourselves and others around us. These type of people find their energy through spending time with other people. As emotionally and mentally draining it can be for some introverts, being around people is what stimulates extroverted people.

Find ways to cope with staying at home by finding a new hobby, taking walks, and using social media to keep in contact with friends and family.

New Leaf Counseling is taking clients of most insurances for telehealth sessions during this uncertain time. Please email or call for more information or to set up a virtual appointment.
